Quba & Co.

Increased revenue and brand experience for clothing company Quba & Co.

In May 2010 Gibe Digital was selected by Quba & Co, the Salcombe clothes manufacturer and retailer, to handle its digital account. Quba have developed a chain of retail premises with a supporting ecommerce site which wasn’t performing as well as expected. The objective of the new website was to increase brand experience and drive online sales. Gibe took over the account and got straight to work on a complete overhaul of Quba & Co. Since Gibe's intervention the site has increased transactions by 68% with site driven turnover increasing by 90%.

Quba is an established, aspirational, boutique brand that required a tactile and unconventional ecommerce site design. To achieve this engaging brand experience, the Gibe team worked closely with the product and print designers at Quba, ensuring the solution was consistent with offline media. To increase sales we looked at a number of areas across the ecommerce store including the functionality of the homepage, product page and the ‘customise your own' design tool allowing users to customise their jacket or bag. The ecommerce site is built using Umbraco CMS and Microsoft Commerce Server and integrates into Quba legacy Sage200 system for customer, order and stock data.

The 'create your own' functionality is one of the biggest successes of the site with an incredible 163 orders in the first three months delivering 13% of total sales. Strong product pages with increased information and viewing have reduced returns from customers and increased total items purchased by 126%. Gibe was a finalist in the retail category 2011 NMA Effectiveness Awards for its work with Quba.

In 2012 Quba asked us to revise this tool and develop it so that it could be used by the growing mobile and tablet customer base. We used an agile approach to developing, wireframing, designing and prototyping the experience to ensure what was being designed was technically achievable. The tools themselves are built using HTML5 canvas technology and JavaScript so that they run nicely on web, tablet and mobile devices without the need for Flash.

Our work has again been recognised by the industry with multiple shortlists and so far one win within the BT Retail Week Ecommerce Innovation award.
